Our local spotlight of the week goes to Kaleo’s Bar and Grill in eclectic Pahoa town on Big Island, Hawaii.
The Location
Pahoa is located about 30 minutes south of Hilo, Hawaii. If you're in the neighborhood looking for local food, look no further than Kaleo's. With a large parking lot in the heart of downtown Pahoa, it's an easy stop.
The Bar
They feature a full bar, with cocktails and local favorites. We enjoyed happy hour with a seat by the window. Overall this is a great place to stop and eat when you're out enjoying island living.
Diverse Menu
From soups and salads, to burgers and pasta, there is a little something for everyone. It is truly Hawaiian-style Asian-American food at its best. I've never had anything bad on the menu, and I've tried a lot of the local dishes. The food is great, but the Lilikoi Cheesecake is amazing! We suggest giving it a try.
The Restaurant
If you're dining in at prime time, expect a crowd. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation. The walls inside are decorated local art, which is a nice touch. There is even live music on the weekends. And of course, in true Hawaii fashion, you can take advantage of the great weather and choose to eat on the lanai.
Whether you are a local, or just visiting, this is a great place for fine dining on the east side of Hawaii Island.
Aloha,
